The Difference Between Information and Perception

Information is what has already been separated from a situation and stored: figures, statements, documents. It is by nature retrospective.

Perception works on the situation as it currently stands — its tensions, its direction, the relations between the parts. It is not a substitute for information; it operates on a different layer.

The two are complementary. Information gives structure. Perception gives movement and relation. Decisions that fail usually had plenty of the first and no deliberate use of the second.
